Overflowing bins and rubbish

Date published: 18 January 2016

Members of the Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) were back in action on Saturday 16 January plenty of overflowing bins and rubbish.

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE said: “Although the weather was very cold, we decided to clean Milkstone Road, William Street, Henry Street, Ann Street and Suffolk Street.

“We found litter and rubbish in the car park at the junction of Devon Street, Mere Street, and William Street, a back yard full of rubbish and litter and cans, etc. on the streets.

“We should do our best to keep our town, streets and roads clean. If we spend few minutes on cleaning it, the town would be more attractive and beautiful.

“With the reduction in budget, staff and services, it is a critical time for all of us but, I am sure, by working together in partnership, we can alleviate the impact on our areas.

“We need to support and work with our council and councillors.”
