A spurned lover stabbed his former girlfriend to death at her home in Shawclough, a court has been told.

Josphat Mutekedza waited for Miriam Nyazema at her house on Shawclough Way in July 2015 and repeatedly stabbed her with a knife.

Bolton Crown Court heard that Mutekedza (36) started a relationship with Miss Nyazema in 2013, while also seeing a woman at his home in Eastbourne.

Mark Kellet, prosecuting, said the defendant stabbed 37-year-old Miss Nyazema in the face, chest, shoulder and back on 28 July after she arrived home with new boyfriend Jacob Chigombe.

Neighbours tried to help as she staggered into the garden, a knife still in her back, but fled when threatened by Mutekedza with a BB gun.

Mutekedza, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denies murder.

The trial continues.
