Unwanted Christmas tree collections delayed

Unwanted Christmas trees awaiting collection in Bamford
Christmas tree collection points have not yet been emptied, as the collections had to be postponed so that vehicles and crews could be redirected to help flood affected residents and businesses clear up.
Following the delay in collections, one site on Norden Road, Bamford is currently full with some trees left alongside the site and a site on Wildhouse Lane, Milnrow was also full as of Monday (11 January).
Martin Taylor, Head of Environmental Management at Rochdale Council, said: “We’ve been collecting Christmas trees since 4 January but the recent floods meant vehicles and crews were needed to help affected residents and businesses clear up.
“Collections of Christmas trees was therefore suspended but we’re now making sure all sites will be cleared. Once collected, the trees are taken to the recycling facility on Chichester Street.”
