Thieves target Asda in ram-raid

Date published: 08 January 2016

Thieves stole a large amount of cigarettes from Asda on Kingsway Retail Park between 11.00pm on Monday 4 January and 12.40am on Tuesday 5 January.

The offenders approached the back of Asda in two cars. They reversed one car, a red Mitsubishi Shogun on false registration plates, into the doors and forced their way inside.

Once inside they stole a large amount of cigarettes before fleeing in another car, a black saloon car, towards Kingsway.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the offenders.

Detective Constable Donna Rollinson of Rochdale division said: “We believe there were three offenders involved in the burglary.

“Anyone who believes they saw the offenders shortly before or after the burglary, or anyone who is sold cigarettes in the area, is asked to call police.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4087, 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
