A local resident so "appalled" to hear that Rochdale Borough Council is contemplating cuts to road safety services has produced a short film outlining his objections to the proposed budget cuts.
The resident, who does not wish to be named, said: "I’ve sent this email to every councillor in the borough and several media outlets. That's because decisions you're about to make are life and death issues that will directly affect every resident in the borough.
"I understand that the financial pressures imposed by central government means that local authorities need to look for ways to reduce their spending, however, axing the current road safety initiative will inevitably lead to an increase in road casualties and fatalities.
"The people who appear in the film and the people who worked behind the camera volunteered their time and expertise over the holiday period for free because high quality road safety provision is worth fighting for."
