'Disgraceful' parking tickets to be cancelled
Date published: 29 December 2015
Council parking enforcement officers caused an outcry after parking tickets were issued to flood victims and volunteers in Littleborough.
Simon France, who runs the Rochdale Online owned Littleborough Local website, said: "It is disgraceful."
The Council subsequently promised that any car parking tickets issued in flood affected areas will be cancelled.
Mr France thanked the Council saying: "It is good to know, and thank you for your support during the horrendous past few days."
Councillor Janet Emsley posted online: "Any locals had parking tickets since flood? Hand in to council officer at Con club today, will sort it out."
However, residents remained angry at the fact the tickets were issued in the first place. One said: "Should never have been issued. What's wrong with these people?"
