Fundraising page set up for Rochdale flood victims

Date published: 29 December 2015

A page has been set up to raise money for those who have been affected by the floods in Rochdale.

Set up by photographer Howard Wilkinson, money raised via the page will be given to those who suffered devastation due to the Boxing Day floods to help them get their lives back on track.

Howard said: “Having lived in Rochdale for just over 43 years, and now running my own business as a professional photographer, the town is very close to my heart in terms of the people, the businesses and the future success and prosperity of the town as a whole.

“If just 1% of the population of Rochdale were to give £5 each, that would raise around £10,000. The aim is to donate funds to people whose dreams have been shattered by the damage caused and to bring a little sunshine after the rain. Help me to help the people of Rochdale make a bit more of a difference to those affected.”

Thousands of homes across Rochdale were ruined on Boxing Day (26 December) as floodwater made its way through the town following heavy rain and the River Roch burst its banks. A clean up operation has started.
