Newhey Post Office to close for refurbishment
Newhey Post Office on Huddersfield Road, Newhey, will close at 5:30pm on Thursday 7 January 2016 to undergo refurbishment before launching a new service in mid-January.
The Post Office will open a new Post Office ‘local’ service which will provide two open plan counters in store, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the till.
The new service will launch at 1pm on Tuesday 12 January 2016 and will be available during the store’s opening hours between 6am and 8pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 2pm on Sunday’s.
The opening hours will increase by an extra 52 hours a week and will ensure that the branch is much more convenient for users with more choice of times to visit.
Customers, residents and local businesses will be able to access a wide range of Post Office and mail services, including special delivery, local collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.
Other services include withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account, sending funds abroad using Moneygram and customers can also pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.
Julie Kemp, Area Manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future. The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
During the closure of Newhey Post Office services may be accessed from any Post Office branch including:
- Milnrow Post Office, 94-96 Dale Street, Milnrow, Rochdale, OL16 4HX
- Shaw Post Office, 33 Rochdale Road, Shaw, Oldham, OL2 8QX
