Mayor Ian Duckworth cuts the ribbon and declares Castleton Swimming Baths open
Mayor Ian Duckworth cut the ribbon and declared Castleton Swimming Baths officially open to the public on Sunday.
The pool’s long-term future was secured following a community asset transfer to Crewe Industrial.
Nick Crewe, owner of Crewe Industrial, said: “I learnt to swim at this pool and spent hours there in my school holidays and it is great to see the baths open again.
"We now need the fantastic support from everyone to continue, ensuring Castleton Pool remains at the heart of the local community for decades to come.”

Castleton Councillor Billy Sheerin, who worked alongside ward colleagues Councillors Aasim Rashid and Jean Hornby to help save the baths, said: “This is a really emotional moment for me and so many others. So much time, effort and money has gone into restoring the baths.
"I would like to thank everyone, particularly Crewe Industrial, for doing so much, so quickly to ensure our famous baths can be at the heart of the local community for decades to come.”
Joanne Potts, of Castleton Health and Leisure, said: “The pool is thriving, thanks to the support of so many residents, schools and community groups.
"In a further boost, we now have a refurbished balcony open with a fantastic view of the baths.
"Thanks to everyone, particularly our sponsors, who have supported the project.”
