Siddal Moor GCSE results "excellent"

Date published: 26 August 2017

Students and staff at Siddal Moor are celebrating following the release of the GCSE grades.

The number of students achieving the top grades in all subjects was "excellent", with a number of students achieving the newly created grade 9 in English and maths.

There were also outstanding results in many other subjects.

Ray Baker, headteacher, said: “The hard work of the committed staff and the increased sense of urgency amongst our year 11 students has ensured that there is plenty to celebrate and be proud of with these results.

"With such an emphasis on high expectations, we have seen some dramatic improvements in the school results. Whilst the national changes make it hard to compare year on year progress, we are confident that these results will show success in many areas.

“Even though we are delighted with the progress that the school is making, we are equally excited about the potential of our current students and are all working tirelessly to ensure that the school keeps pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

"Colleagues deserve credit for their continued effort and commitment to giving our students the best possible opportunities in life and that includes their GCSE results.

"Seeing the delight on the faces of student is a special part of the job and this week is all about celebrating their successes and sharing their excitement, before the hard work starts again for everyone in September.”
