Hollywood beckons as national search for a star arrives in Rochdale

A nationwide search for a new singing sensation has come to Rochdale.

Do you think you have what it takes to be the next Lisa Stansfield?

Or, do you think that you are already the next big thing coming out of Rochdale but you just need that push? Well if you think that’s you, then make your way to Mecca Bingo in Rochdale Town Centre and show off your singing talent.

Star Search is looking for the next big thing and all you have to do is head to the bingo hall on Smith Street to make your first step towards stardom.

The best singers from Rochdale then stand the chance of joining other local and regional heat winners at a star studded national final at Mecca Blackpool in June.

The overall Star Search winner will receive the ultimate star treatment as their prize. The winner will jet off to Los Angeles on a once-in-a-lifetime trip for two to Hollywood, with accommodation in a top Beverley Hills Hotel and spending money thrown in.

If you think you have what it takes then all you have to do is arrange to go down to Mecca for a short performance. Videos of each singer will then be uploaded by club staff to the

Mecca Facebook page where people will be able to vote for their favourites – those will then progress to the next stage of the competition.

Mecca area manager for Rochdale Star Search Mike Sime said: “Star Search will be one of the biggest and best talent competitions to run across the UK this year but it is not only open to singers who think they have what it takes to hit the big time. We want as many entries as possible because we believe there’s a lot of hidden talent out there.

“Entries are welcome from members and non-members who want to give it a go as part of a great night out at Mecca Rochdale.”

The competition is open to over 18s only. Auditions will not be held during bingo games.
Mecca Rochdale will host a small number of live auditions before the closing date of 22 February but for those who want to give it a go sooner rather than later, then call Mecca Bingo to arrange a convenient time to go down.
