Lots of LEGO® fun to be had at Rochdale Brick Show

A free celebration of all things LEGO® is taking place in Rochdale town centre on Saturday 11 February at the Rochdale Riverside Brick Show.

Northern Brickworks and the Rochdale BID have been working together to bring together the best fan-built LEGO® models, designed and created by Northern Brickworks’ members.

Some of the exciting models on display will include Rochdale Town Hall, the UK’s largest travelling brick fairground, the Rovers Return from Coronation Street, Blackpool Tower and the UK’s largest Minecraft display.

Built by Robert Clarkson, the miniature Rochdale Town Hall features over 20,000 LEGO® bricks.

The amazing funfair display from Hull-based builders Mark and Judi Kraska features all the fun of the fair in miniature. You'll find all the popular rides from waltzers to a big wheel, plus various supporting attractions.

All the rides are fully motorised and work just like their real-life counterparts. Each ride comprises around 3,500 bricks and some even feature working lights.

Steve Scrivens, of Northern Brickworks, said: “We meet up and exhibit a plethora of different LEGO® models designed and created by our members. Our goal is to celebrate our love of the plastic brick, and inspire that love in others.

“We have been running for ten years now, and in that time we have exhibited to hundreds of thousands of people whilst raising thousands of pounds for charities too.”

Fellow LEGO® lovers will even have the chance to buy new and retired LEGO® sets as well as a chance to have your name engraved into a LEGO® brick.

From Monday 6 February, there will also be an additional trail of LEGO® animals, scaled up from their original smaller set counterparts.

Each animal has been designed by former LEGO® Masters winner Nate Dias, with over 8,000 bricks being used to create loveable creatures such as a ginger cat and a Westie.

Paul Ambrose, Rochdale BID manager, said: “We jumped at the chance to facilitate the Brick Show as it will appeal to families and we are excited to see such detailed LEGO® craftsmanship on display. It is events like this which bring new visitors into the town centre and help to change perceptions.”

Hidden in 10 shops around Rochdale town centre, each creature is accompanied by a letter: find all 10 to reveal a secret word.

Trail sheets can be collected from Bean at Riverside. The winner of the trail will receive a £40 Nando's voucher; participants are required to take a photograph of their completed trail form and email it to Paul.

The Rochdale Riverside Brick Show takes place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 11 February at Riverside Walk.
