Rochdale Exchange’s cleaning supervisor Liz Hogan and Centre Administrator Emma Grady celebrate their fundraising success as part of One Great Day
Rochdale Shopping Centre has successfully raised more than £2,500 for Manchester Children’s Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital after a week-long fundraising campaign.
The centre took part in the national initiative ‘One Great Day’, which sees 140 shopping centres help generate awareness and money for local charities as well as Great Ormond Street Hospital.
It was down to the incredible organisational skills of one lady, Liz Hogan, the centre’s cleaning supervisor, that so much money was collected for this great cause.
Liz worked tirelessly throughout the week to ensure this fantastic amount was achieved. Members of the centre’s small business market also rallied together to donate a generous amount so they could open their stalls for Rochdale Exchange’s very own ‘One Great Day’ event.
Lorenzo O’Reilly, Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre manager, said: “Liz has shown incredible commitment and passion for the One Great Day campaign and her efforts are clearly shown in the amazing amount she has been able to raise. This has really brought the centre together and massive thanks also goes to our market stall holders who took time out to of their busy schedules to host their businesses in support of this occasion.”
Just Sparkle, IHM Events, Just Kids, Chocolate Bouquets, Isabella Boutique and Eddie Liptrott were the local traders who showed their support and participated in the charity fundraiser.
Sarah Naismith, Head of Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We’d like to extend a big thank you to Rochdale Exchange for choosing our children’s hospital as one of the beneficiaries of their One Great Day fundraising event. A fantastic amount was raised on the day which will go towards our recently launched iMRI Scanner Appeal to purchase a state-of-the-art intra-operative MRI scanning suite, which will transform brain surgery at our children’s hospital.”
Michael Noe, Trustee of One Great Day, concluded: “We are thrilled that Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre was one of 140 shopping centres taking part this year, helping so many children’s health charities across the country.”
One Great Day was established in 2014 and has so far raised more than £400,000 for 93 different children’s charities along with Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. One Great Day now covers over 50 million square feet of retail space across the United Kingdom, from Folkestone to Aberdeen and nearly everywhere in between.
