Apprentice success at Edmund Bell – are you their next apprentice?

Date published: 28 June 2018

Edmund Bell is a leading supplier of fabrics, workroom accessories and technical support to designers and contractors in the commercial, institutional and domestic sectors. The team is celebrating the success of its first apprentice.

Julie Griffiths, supply chain director, said: “Rachael Clegg joined us in the summer of 2016 straight from school as an apprentice purchasing assistant. Rachael has settled into the Edmund Bell team really well.  She is keen to learn and has shown great enthusiasm in the role.

"She has recently progressed onto her Advanced Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.  We are looking to expand Rachael’s role in the near future recognising what she has already achieved in such a short time.

"We’re now looking to take this to the next level and are planning the appointment of further apprentices into our recruitment plan”.

Rachael, 18, from Littleborough joined the team in 2016. She said: “Deciding to do an apprenticeship was the best decision I have ever made. Apprenticeships are hands on, giving me the opportunity to get lots of different experiences.

"The team at Edmund Bell are friendly, helpful and are always there to support me.

"My apprenticeship allowed me to gain confidence and helped me to develop a greater understanding of businesses and has given me greater responsibility within the company.

"I would recommend apprenticeships to anyone who wants experience and training while getting paid.”

Joy Young, Rochdale Training tutor, said: “I have been Rachael's assessor since she started her apprenticeship and her new job. Rachael has completed some excellent work for her apprenticeship which goes above and beyond the quality and quantity of what is and was required. When completing observations on Rachael it is apparent that she really enjoys her job and has learnt so much and taken on a lot of responsibility since starting at Edmund Bell. It is a pleasure to be Rachael's assessor.”

Edmund Bell currently employs over 55 people and exports to over 52 countries and are currently recruiting for three apprenticeship positions covering purchasing, export administration and quality control.

Rochdale Training has over 1,500 apprentices across the country. It has launched a new campaign to start 100 learners in 100 days to support residents to up skill and get qualified.
