Shopping centre to support Rochdale Connections Trust through ‘The Exchange’ scheme

A local shopping centre is set to show its support for a community charity, dedicated to helping those with issues connected to domestic abuse and emotional wellbeing, after the successful launch of a new monthly campaign.

In January, Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre launched ‘The Exchange’ initative by appealing to charities to come forward for a chance to be supported by the centre. Following on from the appeal’s overwhelming response, Rochdale Exchange has announced it will be supporting Rochdale Connections Trust throughout March.

Lorezno O’Reilly, Manager of Rochdale Exchange, said he is delighted to be able to work with an incredible charity like Rochdale Connections Trust. “We made a brilliant connection with the charity back in December, when we donated a third of our Santa’s Grotto proceeds to the organisation following an exceptional Christmas period, so it’s going to be great having them back in the centre for The Exchange.”

Founded in 1987, Rochdale Connections Trust offers specialist care and support to both young people and adults who are affected by issues connected to domestic abuse, social and emotional wellbeing, as well as male and female perpetrators.

Lorenzo added: “As the charity is looking to develop the ground floor of its premises to offer enhanced counselling services, ‘The Exchange’ will provide a great platform for them from which to get started on fundraising. Plus, on Saturday 31 March they will be hosting a tombola at the centre for a small donation to its campaign.”

Running for a year, ‘The Exchange’ initiative will look to connect with a variety of Rochdale’s charities and organisations to help raise awareness, funds and support for their own upcoming campaigns and activities. Every month a local group and theme will be chosen to recognise community topics including mental health, education, animal welfare and homelessness.

The centre is looking for more charities to work with throughout the year.
