The 2015 Rochdale Business Awards

Annabel Tiffin hosted and presented the Rochdale Business Awards at Rochdale Town Hall on Friday (6 November) night.

Guests enjoyed a champagne reception before moving into the Great Hall for a meal and the awards ceremony.

Awards were given out in nine different categories.

Winners

  • Business of the Year (turnover more than £5m) 
    Wireless CCTV
    David Gilbertson, Managing Director, said: “Delighted for all the hard work and dedication of the team over many years. Their hard work is why we have won this award. It is good to be recognised.” 
  • Business of the Year (turnover between £1m and £5m) 
    Crystal Doors
    Richard Hagen said: “We were runners up last year so it’s fantastic to win this year. Our team put the effort in and have been rewarded.”  
  • Business of the Year (turnover under £1m) 
    J21 Airport Taxis
    John Byrne said: “Thanks to Rochdale, team J21 and our customers. Against so many quality businesses I couldn’t have dreamt it in my wildest dreams.”  
  • Apprentice Employer of the Year 
    The Casey Company
    Paul Turner, Director, said: “We’re very proud to have achieved this award at such a prestigious event.”  
  • Businessman of the Year 
    Jimi Hodgkiss (Capture Design)
    Jimi siad: “I’m really honoured. This is a great event to reward businesses in Rochdale and acknowledge good, honest customer service." 
  • Businesswoman of the Year 
    Lisa Greenhalgh (Finlay Jude)
    Lisa said: “I’m elated at winning but I couldn’t have done it without my team, they are great. Can’t believe I’ve won I’m really stunned and pleased.”  
  • Healthy Workplace of the Year
    Hopwood Hall College 
    Caroline Street and Nimisha Mistry said: “We deliver a plan over the year to employees and students encompassing mental health, physical health and resilience.”  
  • Skills and Workforce Development 
    Farrel Limited 
    Peter Gaskell, Site Director, said: “We’ve been coming for four years. We’ve investing a lot in training and we have a strong emphasis on young people. We have 14 apprentices and encourage our staff into Further Education.” 
  • Start Up Business of the Year 
    Team Karting
    Ben Axworthy said: “I’m chuffed for the lads. The amount of work and enthusiasm the lads have put in is tremendous.” 

The awards were established in 2011 to celebrate the achievements of businesses and business people within Rochdale Borough.
