SME growth encouraged with ‘Executive Boardroom’ events
Date published: 10 June 2015
Small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from across Rochdale took part in the borough’s latest Executive Boardroom event on 4 and 5 June 2015.
Held at Rochdale Town Hall, organised by Rochdale Development Agency (RDA) and run by business growth specialists BizVision, The Executive Boardroom is an innovative boardroom-style programme, where business owners can share experiences, benefit from carefully structured learning modules, network and even collaborate in projects.
The programme has been specifically designed to assist Rochdale’s SMEs in better managing aspects surrounding the ‘business of business’ and the agenda of business and growth.
“We launched the Rochdale Executive Boardroom earlier this year, with the clear intention of equipping local organisations with the tools they need to create opportunities, win more contracts and be even more successful,” comments RDA Business and Investment Manager, Carol Hopkins. “Our aim is to encourage business growth, investment, job creation and job protection – all clear benefits for the borough.”
Echoing the focus on helping businesses achieve sustainable growth, Malcolm Gallagher, CEO of The Executive Boardroom and director of BizVision, said: "At each meeting we are discovering and hearing stories of dynamic innovation by Rochdale businesses. The Executive Boardroom is helping them see how to capitalise on those innovations, find new markets, remove risk and bring additional prosperity to the borough."
“I have found The Executive Boardroom to be particularly useful in helping to develop a strategy to support our rapid growth,” adds Mark Wynn, Director of Rochdale Circle, a Community Interest Company (CIC). “Rochdale Circle is developing really quickly and Malcolm has given some excellent advice and tips on managing that expansion.”
Delegates attending Rochdale Executive Boardroom events range from small business owners and the CIC, to employers with as many as fifty staff.
In addition to covering key business innovation & enterprise matters, personal development, and governance & compliance issues in an informal boardroom-style setting, The Executive Boardroom also broadens business thinking by bringing together business owners who otherwise might never gain the opportunity to meet, exchange experiences, knowledge and ideas.
Last week’s Executive Boardroom was the third to be held so far in Rochdale. Delegates taking part in the programme have made a commitment to attend at least four meetings per year and to be participative.
