GJD karting for the Down Syndrome Extra 21 charity
GJD staff battled it out over a 1200m karting circuit for six hours to help raise money for Down Syndrome Extra 21 charity (DSE21). The race is the main fund raising event of the year for DSE21 and was held at Buckmore Park, Kent on Saturday 2 May 2015.
The event was a fantastic success as 24 teams battled it out in the annual charity endurance kart race. Nearly £10,000 was raised by the end of the day for DSE21 and £675 was raised by GJD.
Paul Tibbenham, GJD’s Trainee Manager, headed up ‘Team GJD’ who finished fourth. An excellent result considering the team suffered a technical problem part way through the race, requiring their kart to be changed.
Greg Stuttle, Business Development Manager at GJD, raced with his son Tom in team ‘Jeremy Kartson’, and finished seventh.
Money raised for the charity is used to help people with Down Syndrome to live full and rewarding lives. The main objectives of the charity are to promote equal opportunities for people with Down syndrome and offer support to them and their families. To promote public awareness of Down’s Syndrome and to encourage local support groups.
