Businesses get advice on food festival

Date published: 23 April 2015

A talk by Cathy Burger, a food festival specialist, was the highlight of the Annual General Meeting of the Pennine Business & Tourism Forum that took place at the Bella Vista Restaurant on Monday (21 April).

Star Tree Studio, LittleboroughLocal, Yankee Heaven, The Flower and the Glory, Fingerprint, Framework and Best Dressed were joined by Zen Web Solutions and Rochdale Online, along with Councillor Ann Stott and former councillor Irene Davidson, to hear Cathy give advice on the forthcoming Littleborough Food & Drink Festival.

Cathy, as Huddersfield Town Centre Manager, developed the Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival from a 10 stall event into the largest of its kind in the north of England with 150,000 people attending in 2013. She has now formed an events consultancy, Food Festivals Ltd, to share her experience and knowledge.

John Kay, Chairman of the Pennine Business & Tourism Forum and a director of Rochdale Online, said "We are incredibly grateful to Cathy for coming to speak at our AGM. We hope that following this year's event the festival will grow to be a staple of the Littleborough calendar."

The Pennine Business & Tourism Forum is a volunteer body made up of representatives of local businesses, councillors and interested individuals with the aim of helping businesses to identify and develop opportunities, including understanding the value of using local distinctiveness in marketing the Pennines Township.

The inaugural Littleborough Food & Drink Festival takes place on 13 - 14 June in Littleborough Centre.
