Get 'on yer bike' for Bizspace charity challenge
Date published: 15 April 2015
Keen cyclists or anyone looking to take on a summer challenge are being invited to sign up to the first ever Bizspace Bike Tour through Rochdale and surrounding areas.
Bizspace is planning a 230-mile tour on two wheels to raise £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The five-day tour will begin on Monday 1 June 2015 in Cheadle Heath, making its way through Merseyside and Lancashire. On day four the route begins in Blackburn, travelling through Burnley before calling at Bizspace on Fieldhouse Industrial Estate.
Bizspace’s sales and marketing director, Emma Long, explained the reasons behind the event.
“Macmillan has been our chosen charity in the North West for the past two years and this year we wanted to do something bigger than ever to give them a huge boost,” she said.
“A number of the Bizspace team are avid cyclists. Last year our managing director, Gareth Evans, and our building surveyor, Andrew Ainsworth who is based at our Glenfield Business Park in Blackburn, completed the London Revolution ride, which is 190 miles. We decided to take things a step further and create our own event.”
Both staff and numerous customers from Bizspace’s three business centres in Rochdale will be saddling up for the event. Members of the public are also being invited to join in the ‘wheelie big’ challenge, either for the full week or an individual day. Routes vary from 33 miles to 52 miles per day.
Bizspace is also looking for companies to sponsor refreshment stands en route as well as water bottles and commemorative t-shirts.
“We’d like to make this an event that the whole community can enjoy and get involved with – both individuals and businesses,” Emma added.
“Macmillan is a charity we are so proud to support and we have first-hand experience of the excellent and admirable work that they do. We can’t wait to get on our bikes and get donations rolling in.”
