Rochdale publisher wins IAB award

Date published: 23 May 2008

A Rochdale publisher who began a media company with his personal savings has wond the International Association of Bookkeeper's (IAB) New Business of the Year Award for 2007.

Anasudhin Azeez, Managing Director of New Asian Media Ltd, based on Manchester Road in Rochdale, and publisher of Asian Lite community magazine, received the award at a function at the House of Commons in London.

Mr Azeez launched Asian Lite last year after leaving an editorial post with Johnston Press. Aimed at professional British-Asians and new immigrants from South Asia, the magazine has a circulation of 35,000 copies and introduced internet television on its website in November.

IAB president Fabian Hamilton, MP, chaired the ceremony.

A 12-member judging panel, led by IAB chief executive Malcolm Trotter, chose the winners from hundreds of applicants.
