Hassan Iqbal nominated for Business Award

Date published: 03 March 2014

Rochdale Entrepreneur Hassan Iqbal has been nominated for the Young Entrepreneur award at the One Oldham Business Awards.

Hassan, who is currently studying at the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy in Oldham, said: “I’m surprised about actually being nominated. I didn’t think anything like this would happen to me so I am pleased at the same time.”

To be nominated for the award, Hassan could be nominated in two ways. “I received nominations from other people but they weren’t very detailed about my businesses so I put in a nomination for myself with all of the relevant information,” said Hassan.

Hassan is now up against two other entrepreneurs for the Young Entrepreneur award.

Hassan, who is responsible for the business Creative Pixels, is up against Ben Ingram whose business is called Safeguard Group and Richard Scholes whose business is called Grandpa Greene’s Luxury Ice Cream.

“I don’t know too much about the people I am up against but I am nervous to go against them. I am the youngest person nominated in that category though so hopefully my age will go in my favour,” said Hassan.

Judging criteria for the award states that: “The judges are looking for an individual who has shown desire and who has the flare, drive and ambition to make it happen. The winner will be able to demonstrate to the judges a high degree of entrepreneurship, great potential to succeed and a well defined vision for the future.”
