Evans Business Centre celebrates sixth birthday

Date published: 19 February 2014

Evans Business Centre located on Dane Street Rochdale celebrated their sixth birthday today (Wednesday 19 February) with a birthday lunch with special guest Mayor Peter Rush.

The centre, which officially opened six years ago today, provides office and industrial space for businesses. Currently, 37 different businesses are using the premises.

Centre Manager, Hilary Hartley said: “We thought we would hold a special lunch and give the Mayor the opportunity to meet some of the different people who are using the premises and to discover a bit more about what we do here.”

Mayor Peter Rush said: “It is great to see another business celebrate a milestone. It is great to see a business promoting opportunities within the Rochdale borough and it is great to see them continuing their success alongside our town centre development.”

Over their six years at the site, Evans Business Centre has seen 185 businesses use their premises. Evans took over the site in 2007 and officially launched as Evans Business Centre in February 2008.

Melanie Boulter, Regional Manger for Evans Business Centre said: “We have a number of different businesses using the site and they range from physiotherapists, to healthcare to online sales.”

At the time of acquiring the building, Evans spent £300,000 on refurbishing the site and has space to accommodate for small and medium enterprises.

Ian Frostwick, Operations Director of Evans Business Centre said: “We take away the headache for business in Rochdale who need space like this. We are hopefully providing job opportunities and money for the local area.”

Janet Walton has been using the Business Centre for eight years. She said: “We have just moved to a bigger unit on the site but we have no plans to leave any time soon. It is brilliant here and is an ideal location for everyone.”
