Suprafilt win £1m contract to upgrade town’s water system
Date published: 03 January 2014
Suprafilt, a design and engineering company based in Rochdale, has secured a £1m contract to work on an upgrade of the town’s water
system.
The company, which started work on the project in early December, will supply and install a new aeration system for the project. The work is part of a plan from United Utilities which will see £3.6bn spent on the town’s water and waste water network.
Suprafilt were awarded the six month contract by KMI, a civil engineering and construction company. KMI is responsible for the upgrade that will increase capacity at the Rochdale works and will reduce the flow of ammonia into the River Roch.
Graeme Fielden, Sales Director at Suprafilt said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the contract. We work nationally so it is nice to do something local and just around the corner. Hopefully it will be good for local businesses and the local community.”
The work is scheduled to finish in June and is the second biggest contract won by Suprafilt, after the company won a £2m order to supply a system for Liverpool’s waste water works.
Mr Fielden added: “So far the work has gone ok and everything is running smoothly.”
Suprafilt, located on Albion Street, Rochdale, currently employs 25 members of staff and in 2013 doubled its turnover to £4m.
