Local growth advisor in Rochdale

Date published: 17 October 2013

Business Growth Advisor Michael White will be delivering in-depth business assistance to business owners and senior managers of ambitious Rochdale companies who are looking to achieve growth. He will be working with eligible businesses to assess their growth potential, help them identify any barriers to growth and find suitable solutions to address these and release growth benefiting the region and beyond.

Michael is formerly of the Greater Manchester Groundwork Trust and was also Company Secretary with engraving business Joseph Bailey Ltd for over 20 years. He chaired the Oldham Town Centre Executive for a number of years and was instrumental in the body employing it's first Town Centre Manager and moving towards becoming one of the first Business Improvement Districts (BID).

Michael said: “Businesses in Rochdale will now have direct access to a dedicated and locally based Growth Advisor who will enable them to identify and overcome business issues and access a wide range of services that they may not have been aware of before. We are here to really support and shout about the successes and the up and coming business stories in Rochdale and to support the economic growth of the borough as a whole.”

Michael’s role will be to help businesses in Rochdale to find out more about a wide range of vital support services that will help their plans for growth. These include the Business Mentoring Service, Manufacturing Advisory Service, UKTI, Access to Finance, UK Start-Up Loans, NW Business Angels, Manchester Business Loans, ENWORKS and mentoring programmes as well as a range of networking and specialist growth events.

Councillor Peter Williams, Cabinet member for Economic Development and Customer Services at Rochdale Council, said: “Having a dedicated business support function working across both our services and those of the Business Growth Hub will be a huge asset to businesses in the area. It really puts all the available advice, expertise and resources at their fingertips, whether they are a young and hungry company or a long established firm looking for a fresh direction. We want Rochdale to be at the forefront of driving economic growth in the region and to continue to attract and retain the successful businesses that will enable us to achieve that.”
