Rochdale Online increases audience by over 40%

Date published: 04 September 2013

Rochdale Online has increased its monthly online audience by over 40% over the past year.

This substantial increase to 100,000 unique users per month comes from an already very high level of 70,000 per month last year.

Rochdale Online managing director, Pauline Journeaux, said: “We are very pleased with these results particularly because they are on top of an already high level of traffic to the site.

"We are not complacent though and have spent the past few months re-developing the site to make it 'responsive', so instead of having the previous cut down mobile version of the site, mobile and tablet users can now access the full site in the same way as desktop users do.

"With over 40% of web access now being via mobile devices it is important to ensure those users can access the same level of content as desktop readers and of course important to our advertisers that thier content could be viewed on all devices."

The Rochdale Online site is undergoing "significant" further development but Ms Journeaux will not be drawn on the details at the moment. She said: "It would not be prudent to reveal our plans at this stage but we hope to be completed this year. What I can say is it will be a significant development for Rochdale Online and will help our town as well."

The Rochdale Online website was launched in June 1998 from a back bedroom in Shawclough by the Journeaux family. The site started as an on-line hub for the local community and became an incorporated business in 2001.

Rochdale Online Ltd is a genuinely local company contributing greatly to the local economy and supporting local community groups and businesses. The office is in Rochdale and provides quality employment for local people.

The Rochdale Online website provides a wealth of up-to-date news and information for the people of the borough.

The huge size of the website audience affords an unrivalled opportunity for advertisers to reach local consumers.
