Get Briefed at Breakfast

The Quarterly Economic Survey for quarter two has now closed. Many thanks to all those who completed it and for your continued support. The results will be revealed on 28th June at our Quarterly Economic Briefing, where new Chief Economist to the Chamber, John Ashcroft, will be making his debut! We’ll also be joined by Kevin Green, CEO at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, and a delegation from Atlanta, Georgia.

Are you Lunching, Ladies?

Our next Women in Business event takes place on 28 June at The Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays, and we’re delighted to welcome Amanda Chadwick of Peninsula Business Services as our guest speaker. Amanda has worked with and helped millions of businesses over the years with all aspects of employment, HR, Health & Safety and motivational issues, and is a thoroughly entertaining speaker!

Manufacturing Success

Matthew Kershaw the Chamber’s property and construction policy manager, attended the opening of the Manchester School of Architects end of year degree show last week, where he presented student, Bryn Lee, with the Chamber’s inaugural Property and Construction Committee Manufacturing Prize. The prize was awarded for Bryn’s studio work, which was based upon data analysis and the development of a new timber construction method.

Chain Reaction

The Chamber is hosting an event on 3 July to give businesses the opportunity to learn more about supply chain opportunities, which are arising from delivery of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) in Greater Manchester. Delegates will meet the recently appointed ECO partners, Carillion, Dyson Energy services and Forrest, and will also receive information about the Green Deal and what it could mean for your business.

Love Architecture?

Manchester is launching its very own Open House day across the city. Taking place on Saturday 29 June, the initiative will allow members of the general public, for one day only, access to lots of diverse buildings: workplaces, religious buildings, historical sites and many others. On 25th June, there will also be a Treasure Hunt around the city to find Manchester's architectural hidden gems.

Automatic Enrolment – Are you ready?

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) is holding a workshop on pensions automatic enrolment, the new government legislation which will affect every business in the UK. The workshop will focus on the legal, financial and resource implications these changes bring to your business. The event takes place on 3 July at the Chamber’s offices in Manchester.
