Companies or individuals wishing to submit an entry for the Chamber’s Greater Manchester Building of the Year Award will need to be quick as the deadline is next Friday, 28 June.
Awarded by Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce’s Property and Construction Committee, this highly coveted accolade is given to the building in Greater Manchester that shows high standards in design quality, construction techniques, sustainability credentials and value for money.
Last year’s trophy was awarded to The Space Youth Intervention Centre for 42nd Street for its innovative design that was imaginatively delivered, serving an often neglected part of the community.
The winner of this year’s award will be announced by Sir Howard Bernstein at the Property and Construction sector’s Annual Dinner at The Midland Hotel, Manchester, on 31 October.
Commenting on the award, Matthew Kershaw, Policy Manager for Property and Construction at the Chamber, said: “We’ve had some fantastic entries for the Building of the Year Award so far, from all corners of Greater Manchester. However there is still time to submit an entry for this prestigious award, which aims to celebrate the industry and the successful projects that are enhancing people’s lives on a daily basis.”
The objective of the Building of the Year Award is to recognise a building’s contribution to Greater Manchester in terms of construction and development. This includes its importance in terms of urban regeneration and environmental enhancement, its design excellence, its contribution to urban design and townscape, or its effect on the local community or economy.
Entries must adhere to the following criteria: The building must be within Greater Manchester; it can be a new-build or refurbishment/conversion; the building must have reached practical completion and be in the possession of the client during 2013.
The Award will be presented to the commissioning body, not the designers or contractors, and the deadline for entries is Friday 28 June 2013.
