EEF and Rolls-Royce launch hunt for Britain’s best young engineers

EEF Future Manufacturing Awards 2013

EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, and Rolls-Royce plc. have launched a nationwide hunt to find the UK’s most talented young engineers of the future as part of the fifth Future Manufacturing Awards. The Young Engineering Student Award, sponsored by Rolls-Royce, will be awarded to the student who has benefited the most from completing their Key Stage 4 engineering studies and, whose achievements have allowed them to map out and embark on a career path within the manufacturing sector.

The Future Manufacturing Awards are now in their fifth year and are recognised as the UK’s leading awards programme in the manufacturing sector. It offers manufacturers and apprentices from across the UK the opportunity to showcase their achievements across eight different award categories: business growth, people and skills, innovation, export, health and safety, environment, apprentices & young engineering students.

The EEF awards are free to enter and provide many opportunities to win. The awards will be judged in five regions across the UK and regional winners will be announced at celebration events in November. The regional winners will then compete for the national awards at a prestigious ceremony in London in January 2014. Both regional and national winners and runners-up gain high profile publicity, as well as the accolade of winning a prestigious industry award.

EEF Chief Executive Terry Scuoler commented: “The Future Manufacturing Awards has established itself as the biggest and most prestigious event in the manufacturing sector. This is our time to celebrate our manufacturing champions and the young apprentices who are shaping the future, and I challenge all UK manufacturers to step up and submit an entry.”
