Business survey to guide Council support

Date published: 28 May 2013

Businesses in Rochdale Borough are being urged to have their say in an online survey that will help shape the direction of the Council’s support in the coming years.

Rochdale Borough Council’s Economic Affairs unit will analyse information from the survey and use responses to help draft the proposals.

June 14 is the closing date.

There is a series of questions covering topics such as skills and apprenticeships, exporting, ICT provision, barriers to growth and access to finance.

The Council believes these are areas that it can work with partner organisations to provide training and awareness sessions for businesses.

Over 1,300 businesses already on Council and High Street Foundation databases have been emailed the survey, but they also want participants who are not registered to get online to air their views.

Individual businesses will not be identified and the survey can be completed anonymously as the Council is attempting to understand in more general terms where it can support businesses locally and help grow the local economy.

Once the data is collated and analysed, the aim is to publish the overall findings and share with participants and the general public in the Borough, together with proposals for helpful events, initiatives and schemes based on the results.

Carol Hopkins, business manager for Rochdale Borough Council’s Economic Affairs unit, said: “I would urge anyone with business interests in the Borough to get online and help guide the direction of the help the Council will give to local business in the future.

“The survey will only take a few minutes to complete but once the results are collated will have a big impact on how we approach the way we support companies and individuals with business interests.”
