MP congratulates local business
Date published: 25 March 2013
A Rochdale start-up has been recognised as a leading local business after being shortlisted in a Newspaper Society competition. The Local Business Accelerators competition is looking for the most promising small businesses in the country, with a national winner being announced in October.
Mister Cufflink, a small business from Littleborough that sells a wide variety of cufflinks, was initially one of 12 finalists from Greater Manchester to be listed for the award. They have now made a shortlist of three and will be told in June whether they’re the number one start-up for Greater Manchester to be put forward for a national award.
Simon Danczuk MP said: “I am delighted to see the success of Mister Cufflink. Small businesses play a vital role in our economy and I very much hope that the Local Business Accelerators competition and the accomplishments of Mister Cufflink will help to inspire other people in Rochdale to start their own business.”
The competition’s national winner will receive a year's mentoring from Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden, who said: “We’re setting out to find the best local businesses that Britain has to offer; the kind of businesses that can create jobs, invigorate local communities and put the economy on the right track.”
The winner will also receive other prizes including free advertising in their local newspaper, £10,000 from the Business Growth Fund, a year's membership of the CBI, business advice from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, broadband and a website from BT, and an iPad and a year’s access to software from Freeagent.
