Performance Doorset Solutions celebrate 10 years at the top

Date published: 22 March 2013

In March 2003, Performance Doorset Solutions (PDS) was set up as a small doorset manufacturer in Rochdale. Ten years later following substantial investment in premises, equipment and staff they now employ 115 people and are manufacturing around 15,000 external doorsets and 4,000 windows per year.

Tim Fairley, Managing Director of PDS said: “It’s been ten years of working hard and without the significant effort made by all employees, from the directors to the shop floor, we wouldn’t have got to the level where we are today. It’s great to be celebrating our 10th Birthday. It brings back so many memories of the early days when we originally set up with the aim to provide high quality security doorsets for local authorities”

“We now provide high volumes of factory finished bespoke doorsets and windows to the social housing and builders merchants markets.

"The directors are extremely proud of how PDS has grown over the years, from such humble beginnings to the thriving business we are today. We understand that all of our employees have contributed to getting us to where we are today many of whom have been here for a number of years, including Dexter May, our very first employee and ten years on he’s still here."

“We want to take this opportunity to thank all the businesses who gave us the opportunity to supply all those years back, many of whom have grown with us and remain trusted partners and clients today.”

The rapid business expansion meant the company quickly outgrew its original premises so PDS relocated to Greenvale Business Park, Todmorden Road, Littleborough where they now occupy over 60,000 squared feet across three factories.

Tim is aware that the recession has no doubt made things harder for the industry but is pleased that they are still growing and expect to be up 5% this year.

“We believe a factor in our success is our willingness to evolve our products to meet the needs of our customers. In the last 10 years the business has expanded much more than we ever expected and we look forward to the next 10 years with the same continued investment in new products, machinery and employees,” he said.
