Kingsway signs up second occupier

Date published: 15 January 2008

Wilson Bowden Developments has exchanged contracts with the second company to relocate to the Kingsway Business Park at Junction 21 of the M62 motorway.

Takeuchi Mfg (UK) Ltd, a leading construction equipment supplier with a popular range of mini excavators and loaders, will expand its presence and strengthen its business operations in Rochdale by opening a new facility.  The new facility will be located on Kingsway’s Plot E with a total floorspace of 5,193 sq m (55,897 sq ft).  Unit construction will be completed by March 2008.

The company’s relocation from its present Rochdale premises will mean that its 25 employees can continue to work in the Borough.  In addition, this expansion of the business is expected to create a number of new jobs.

Mr Ito, the managing director of Takeuchi Mfg (UK) Ltd comments: “Takeuchi has successfully grown its business in the UK over the last ten years. The move to the Kingsway Business Park is a great opportunity to continue this growth and to invest in strengthening our customer support by setting up a training service centre in a large purpose-built facility. The location is perfect in helping Takeuchi to maintain its commitments in Rochdale, and, with a dedicated motorway junction, it is ideal for the company’s wide distribution requirements. We are glad to be able to take this opportunity.”

Robert Grafton, Development Director at Wilson Bowden Developments comments: “To have two deals following so quickly on from each other is very encouraging. And the level of interest in the remaining units on Plot E remains strong.”

John Hudson, Chief Executive of Rochdale Development Agency adds: “It’s always excellent to hear about a local business from Rochdale evolving, expanding and creating new jobs, so Kingsway is a perfect site for their new premises. Rochdale is the focus of serious investment and development at the moment, not just in Kingsway but also plans are progressing with pace to redevelop the town centre with new retail stores, leisure facilities, restaurants and homes. Metrolink will soon provide a fast link into the city. The benefits of living and working here are increasing all the time.”
