Raising businesses awareness of GMP activity against robbery offenders

Date published: 17 January 2008

Greater Manchester Chamber is currently looking at ways to engage more fully with Greater Manchester Police (GMP). With this in mind GMP have advised the Chamber of an operation they will be undertaking  - and asked that we raise awareness across the business community.

The Police are undertaking a high profile operation aimed at raising awareness of GMP activity against robbery offenders  which will also encourage the reporting of people who sell stolen goods.

There will be operations taking place in areas of Greater Manchester which are designed to ensure the above objectives are met as well as linking in with key partner agencies across Greater Manchester to ensure a joined up and consistent approach is taken to address the issue of robbery.

Part of the operation will be to ensure that any business that employs security staff or has staff in public spaces e.g.  in shops, offices open to the public, etc. looks at making sure that their staff are, firstly, aware of this activity and, secondly, looks at ways of maximising the opportunity for them to be more "visible", to pick up any behaviour that is suspicious or illegal and ensure it is reported to hopefully prevent a crime taking place.

If your business is involved and has any positive feedback, please let Greater Manchester Chamber know.
