A logistics and self storage business has signed up for a new 90,000 sq ft industrial warehouse at Crown Business Park in Rochdale.
First Store has bought a 30,000 sq ft building and plans to add an additional two floors, totaling 90,000 sq ft with construction due to complete in May.
The deal for joint venture partners Capital & Centric and Barnfield Construction is part of their first phase of speculative construction and future speculative phases are planned.
The project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and once the development is completed, it is expected to create more than 500 jobs.
The warehouse is being built to BREEAM Excellent standards in line with the rest of the development on the park.
John Hudson , Chief Executive of Rochdale Development Agency, said: "Crown Business Park is a fantastic addition to Rochdale’s portfolio of employment sites along the M62 corridor. It is great to see the confidence of the developer rewarded with the early signing of Crown’s first occupier."
The project is part of a wider portfolio of the joint venture’s development which is also speculatively developing 20,000 sq ft of offices at Crown Business Park and 85,000 sq ft of business units at Estuary Commerce Park in Speke, south Liverpool.
Nolan Redshaw and Jones Lang LaSalle are joint letting agents for the development.
