Deadline looms for award nominations

Date published: 20 January 2012

Time is running out for the public to submit their nominations for the English Asian Business Awards.

The Awards will see the business achievements of the England’s Asian community celebrated at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel in March.

Organisers say that nominations have been received from up and down the country and that competition is fierce.

“We have been overwhelmed with the response we have received from the public” said Yasmin Mahmood, of event organisers Oceanic Consulting.

“With this being the first year in which the English Asian Business Awards are taking place we are setting the event’s standard for years to come. With the calibre of nominations we have received so far I am extremely pleased to say that the bar is going to be set very high indeed.”

The awards categories are as follows:

  • Young Achiever of the Year: This award recognises an entrepreneur who has achieved great business success at a young age.
  • Small Business of the Year: This award recognises those businesses that have continued to grow in strength, while remaining a small enterprise.
  • Business of the Year: This award recognises the enterprise that has come on leaps and bounds over the last year and thus unequivocally dominated its corner of the market.
  • Franchisee of the Year: This award recognises those individuals among us who have successfully expanded a franchise by taking an established name and adding their own unique twist.
  • Community Award: Recognises that success cannot be measured in monetary terms alone. Positively impacting lives and making a tangible difference is in itself is a vast accomplishment. Those achievements which leave a legacy of positive change to carry forward into the future should therefore be held in the highest esteem.
  • Businesswoman of the Year: This award recognises an exceptional individual who is not only an ambassador for women and ethnic minorities but an inspiration to all in the business world.
  • Businessman of the Year: This award recognises a businessman whose actions and accomplishments are an inspiration to us all.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Recognises an extremely dedicated individual who has experienced the highs and lows of business - emerging at the top of their game and furthermore, has positively contributed to their community.
  • Entrepreneur of the Year: This award brings to light the incredible achievements of an individual whose entrepreneurial spirit, ability to think out of the box, and drive, has propelled them to success.

The closing date for nominations is the 30 January.
