Rodent Robbers

Date published: 25 January 2008

Park Staff were puzzled when crocus bulbs started disappearing from the town centre memorial gardens.

They wondered if perhaps a selfish gardener was stealing them. That is until squirrels were seen casing the joint for their dinner!

Jason Addy, a member of the Friends of the Memorial Gardens, says the bulbs, which will flower in time for a remembrance service on 28 February, will be replaced.

The flowers will represent people across the country who have died from asbestos related diseases.

Two large peregrine falcons now ‘stand guard’ on the Town Hall roof – putting a stop to the pilfering pests!
