Fundraiser backed by businesses

Date published: 03 August 2011

A Rochdale man who has embarked on a fundraising challenge in aid of the Rochdale Connections Trust (RCT) has recruited the help of some well known businesses to help him raise the much needed funds.

Andy Zallmann, a volunteer at RCT will climb Mount Everest in November. The climb is also a personal challenge for Mr Zallmann who has recently had a major back operation.

In a bid to help him raise money Mr Zallmann has contacted businesses for their support. Both Asda and Tesco allowed him to collect funds in store and the following businesses: Flying Tigers, Test and Maintenance, Cozy Taxi’s, Ken Taylor Clothing and Cots & Tots Nursery, have all supported his challenge.

Also, Barclays Bank in Rochdale Town Centre has held a fun day in support of the challenge.

The event saw staff sell home-made cakes, host a raffle and allowed RCT staff and children to speak with their customers.

The day raised £750 and Barclays have agreed to double the amount. This takes the fund to £3,400 so far. Mr Zallmann’s aim is to raise £5,000 which will help resource a new residential centre.
