Jackson, Jackson & Sons picks up Regional Construction Award

Date published: 27 May 2011

Rochdale-based construction company Jackson, Jackson & Sons won SME of the year at the fifth annual North West regional construction awards ceremony, held last night at Chester Racecourse.

Hosted by Centre for Construction Innovation North West (CCINW), the awards, which are divided into 17 categories, provide the opportunity to recognise and reward the achievements of the North West construction industry, showcasing the best and most innovative construction projects and working practices in the region.

The SME of the Year award, for construction-related companies employing less than 250 people, recognises a significant impact on the industry in the North West over the previous year and strong prospects for future growth.

Jackson, Jackson & Sons is a family-owned company, which undertakes projects in new build and refurbishment in both construction and social housing. Previous schemes include hospitals, hospices, schools, commercial premises, police stations and prisons. The company has also been involved in sustainability projects including heating systems and solar PV.

The winner fought off stiff competition from Parkinson Building Contractors, Claremont Group Interiors Ltd, Mitchell’s Scaffolding Ltd.

Jackson, Jackson & Sons was chosen as the best example in this category as Roy Stewart, chief executive at CCINW, commented: "This is a fantastic example of a company committed to continuous improvement. The company’s knowledge management is particularly impressive with a clear passion for helping others to succeed – quite simply an excellent company to work for!”

Key sponsors included Willmott Dixon Construction, Place North West, Hill Dickinson and BRE.
