Renewed Regenda plans for the future

Date published: 12 May 2011

North West based housing provider The Regenda Group has restructured, reducing the number of subsidiaries within the group from five to two from 1 May 2011.

Regenda residents will benefit from the savings that this should generate, which will be re-invested in the group’s properties and services.

Regenda Limited, a charitable organisation, now provides the group’s general needs and sheltered housing, whilst Regenda Homes Limited, a non-charitable organisation, owns and manages the group’s leasehold properties.

The group’s former subsidiaries, Templar Housing Association in Cheshire; West Pennine Housing Association in Greater Manchester; and Wyre Housing Association in Lancashire have been amalgamated within Regenda Limited (the group parent). Maritime Housing Association has transferred a large majority of its stock to Regenda Limited and has changed its name to Regenda Homes Limited, a subsidiary of the parent group.

Regenda’s second subsidiary, M & Y, provides a repair service which currently covers properties in Liverpool, St. Helens, Wirral, Runcorn, Macclesfield and Fleetwood.

The RegendaFirst brand has been replaced by the corporate Regenda brand, however residents should still call 0344 736 0066 to request a repair, contact the lettings team, register a complaint, get involved or find their local office.

Bernard Gallagher, Group Chief Executive said, “The change allows us to provide better quality services equally across all of the areas in which we operate across the North West. Previously we were unable to move budgets from one subsidiary to another. As a result when savings were made in one area we were unable to spend it on essential work in another area.

“Restructuring the group should also reduce our tax bill. These savings will be invested in the things that matter to our residents - their homes and the services we provide to them - as well as into building new homes. The group restructure will not affect any of the rights of our tenants or leaseholders and the services which we deliver to them will not change.”

“The board has reconfirmed our mission to ‘make the North West a better place to live’ and we are currently developing a comprehensive four year corporate plan for the group to deliver this,” he concluded.
