Moss Lodge awarded five stars

Date published: 05 February 2008

Moss Lodge on Kings Road has been awarded five stars as guest accommodation and a silver accolade after an inspection by Visit Britain.

In business for under three years, Samantha and David Fleming converted the premises themselves from a private 6-bedroom house into 14 bedroom visitor accommodation 14-bedroom business which also boasts a top quality restaurant, conference suites and a room licensed for wedding ceremonies.

Four members of the family work in the business, but as Samantha says: “We have ten staff, and they are like one big family. We couldn’t have done all this work and achieved this award without them”.

Moss Lodge received help from the start from Ian Aston, Rochdale Council’s Business Advisor. “Ian has been a great help all the way through,” said Samantha. “As we’re close to Kingsway Business Park he advised us to promote ourselves to business visitors and many of them return regularly. At weekends we cater for wedding guests and leisure visitors. We’re all thrilled to have achieved this award in such a short time, and our plan is to maintain standards and go from strength to strength.”

David and Samantha promise guests, be they business or leisure guests, they can be sure they will receive an unsurpassed level of service and hospitality; they are professional and attentive, and strive at all times to meet individual requirements - a fact now acknowledged by the Visit Britain award.

A Visit Britain assessor visited posing as a customer and inspected everything from making the booking over the phone, to checking in, having an evening meal, staying overnight, having breakfast in the morning and then checking out before deciding on the award.
