French air treatment company breezes into Rochdale

Date published: 11 November 2010

Prevost, the French air treatment and fluid distribution company, has chosen Rochdale as the location for their first UK facility to service a fast-growing UK client base.

The company decided to invest in the region following advice from MIDAS and the NWDA and its new premises will be in The Pavilions, Rochdale.

MIDAS and NWDA worked closely with Prevost at each stage of the process, assisting with property searches, tours and providing information to support the business case for the location.

Mike Abbott, Prevost UK Sales Manager, said: “Our new facility in Rochdale will allow us to provide exceptional service and much quicker delivery times for our UK clients. By setting up our base here we are demonstrating not only faith in the UK economy but in Greater Manchester’s ability to service our recruitment and logistical requirements. As a business, we are committed to supporting the economic development of Greater Manchester and believe that its infrastructure, from transport links to the established network of logistics providers in Greater Manchester, will ensure that we can grow with the city region.”

Angie Robinson, Chief Executive of MIDAS, commented: “We are delighted that Prevost chose Rochdale as the base for their UK facility. Their decision is testament to Greater Manchester’s ability to provide unrivalled access to markets for its businesses thanks to its location at the heart of the UK’s transport network. This certainly reinforces Manchester City Region’s status as a leading UK hub for logistics.”

Mark Hughes, Acting Chief Executive for the NWDA, said: “The investment teams at NWDA and MIDAS have worked hard with Prevost over the past few months to ensure they chose to locate in the Northwest. The excellent logistics and transport infrastructure within Greater Manchester and beyond was key to the decision and proves that the Northwest is a centre point for distribution networks and a prime location for this kind of investment in the UK.”

Councillor Dale Mulgrew, Cabinet Member for Development at Rochdale Borough Council said: “We welcome Prevost to the borough. They are precisely the type of company we are trying to attract and we want Rochdale to be a place where companies like Prevost can grow and succeed. Our Employment Links Team worked with the company throughout the recruitment process. Being able to offer a local recruitment service to a company based outside the UK not only made the opening of the new facility much easier for Prevost, but it also demonstrated the real value of locating an international business in Rochdale."

Prevost’s global headquarters is in Annecy, France, and Mike Abbott added: “Establishing an operation in a new market can be a daunting task, but MIDAS, NWDA and their supporting partners made the process as painless as possible. We are now focused on launching the BSI, an innovative push button coupling system which is dedicated to the UK market and as part of this we will look to recruit additional UK workers to the new site.”
