Zen provides broadband at Wimbledon
Date published: 25 June 2006
Zen Internet has given Sportsworld, one of the world's leading providers of hospitality and travel based event solutions, their first broadband service at Wimbledon. The high speed account provides download speeds of up to 8Mbps at the event and also has the potential to offer up to 832Kbps upload speeds.
Sportsworld is officially appointed by The All England Club to sell corporate hospitality and international tours at the Wimbledon Championships. This is the first year that they have managed to track down a UK broadband provider with a temporary contract. Previous years have seen Sportsworld use an inferior, and more expensive, ISDN system.
Using the Zen connection Sportsworld can create an efficient remote office on site at Wimbledon, where staff can link back to the main office for communication purposes including access to the reservation system for clients, an essential part of the event management.
Sportsworld will allow Internet access for guests to help keep their clients up-to-date with the latest scores.
James Drinkwater, Sportsworld’s ICT Manager, said: "We have been very impressed with the excellent service provided by Zen’s Events Team and the temporary contract is a huge bonus."
Iain Johnstone, Sales and Partner Programme Manager of Zen Internet, said: “We are pleased to be in the position to offer solutions for companies involved in high profile events such as Wimbledon. The specialist Zen Events Team will be working on a range of major events this summer, including other sporting events such as Ironman UK through to music events such as the Leeds and Reading festivals.”
