Government-funded apprenticeships on offer to local businesses

Date published: 30 June 2006

Rochdale Training has a number of government-funded apprenticeships to offer local businesses and they are looking for employers and young people to fit the bill. Apprenticeships are targeted at 16 - 19 year olds, who can 'earn while they learn' – combining valuable experience gained from actually doing the job with focused and relevant study.

The training is worth around £7000 and is FREE to employer and employee. Currently employed staff can qualify for apprenticeships or Rochdale Training will select young people with the appropriate skills, drive and personality to suit the organisation.

The training is government-funded so the employer gets better-qualified staff free of charge and the apprentice gets paid while they’re studying. All training is customised to exactly what the employer needs and at a time and location to suit.

Apprenticeships are available in:
  •  All aspects of mechanical and electrical engineering
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Warehousing, distribution and storage
  • Business administration
  • Customer services
  • Contact centre work
  • IT and computer work

Local companies that have worked with Rochdale Training apprentices include Holroyds, First Choice Homes, Mears, Westshield, The Royal Toby Hotel, Hanson Springs and Shopmobility.

Employers looking for apprentices and young people looking to get into the jobs market can look at the web site www.rochdaletraining.co.uk for more information or call 01706 631417 now.
