Rochdale Canal benefits from Zen volunteer work
Date published: 13 July 2006
Rochdale based Internet Service Provider (ISP), Zen Internet, will be encouraging members of staff to take a few hours off on Friday the 21 July! But they will still be hard at work, helping The Waterways Trust in a project that aims to clean up the Rochdale Canal so that people can better enjoy this beautiful area.
The Waterways Trust is a registered charity which plays a key role in the regeneration of waterways up and down the country. The Waterways Trust works with local people to care for canals and to improve free leisure facilities such as cycle networks, walking routes, fishing and boating facilities. The Trust needs volunteers to help its work to improve the Rochdale Canal. Volunteers from Zen will help with removing litter along some of the canal's towpaths.
Caroline Taylor, HR Manager and member of Zen’s Social and Charities Committee commented: “We always look for opportunities to help out in the local community wherever possible, and as the canal runs literally on the doorstep of our headquarters at Moss Bridge Road we thought it would be an excellent chance to get involved.”
