New Training Centre at Sysop

Date published: 14 September 2006

IT training company Sysop have officially opened their new-look training centre at Byron House on Green Lane, Heywood. The ribbon was cut by Rochdale MP Paul Rowen. Sysop Managing Director Stuart Sawle thanked the designer of the centre and the building company for the swift, professional service they had provided in getting the centre redeveloped in just five weeks.

Sysop specialise in understanding the dynamics of large-scale storage, IT disaster recovery, and high availability management and their new training centre will give them an increased capacity on their IT best practice training and management courses; they now have training rooms with a capacity of 12 trainees in each.

Both MP Paul Rowen and Stuart Sawle declared how impressed they were with the work that had taken place. Stuart said: “The whole purpose of this evening is to say thanks to the builders. It’s remarkable when standing here, that only five weeks ago the work started and now we are running training again.”

Paul Rowen spoke of how impressed he was with the work that had been undertaken by local companies. He said: “It’s a great pleasure to be asked to open this new training centre. I’ve been here a few times and there has been a great improvement since I was last here. It is very important for the Rochdale Borough that work is undertaken by local companies for local business development, and that is exactly what has happened here. Investments such as this make the Rochdale Borough a fine place to live and to work.”

Jim Maguire, head of building company Connect Construction, declared how pleased he was with the project. He said: “When a company like ours undertakes a project such as this it is important to choose a team that is able to deliver to the client to exacting standards and I believe we did that.

“We’re over the moon with the final outcome. We received the design brief from the architect and in five weeks we have turned that into a reality. Thanks to the hard work of people such as Lee Oldham [site manager] and Jason Butterworth [MD of Turners Decorators and Connect Construction] we were able to deliver on time, on budget, and exceeding the client’s expectation.”

Those sentiments were echoed by project designer, Ian Hastie, of Ferguson Developments. He said: "Ferguson Developments would like to congratulate Stuart Sawle on his vision for instigating this complete change in the character of his building, converting very basic commercial offices into a purpose designed prestige training facility.

"The work was designed locally and was executed by local main contractors, a local fit out contractor and local services companies and although the build programme was very tight indeed, to meet the customer’s future training commitments, the work was brought in on time and in budget.

"The completed project is a credit to Sysop’s foresight, and to the workforce who carried it out. It demonstrates the depth and quality of skills available within the Borough."
