Ethnic Minority Business Support (EMBS) Awards

The annual Rochdale Ethnic Minority Business Support (EMBS) Awards were held at Rochdale Town Hall on Friday 17 November. The awards ceremony was opened by Rochdale MP, Councillor Paul Rowen; speakers included: Den Dover, Conservative MEP for the North West, Trevor Jee, CEO Bramall Construction, John Robson, Regional Director of Lloyds TSB Business Banking and Tony Deep, CEO East End Foods. Sophia Iqbal was the presenter for the evening.

John Kay of Molesworths Bright Clegg, President of Rochdale Local Chamber of Commerce and a director of Rochdale Online, said: "I was delighted to chair the awards panel again this year. The standard of the finalists was very high and a credit to Rochdale EMBS. Asian Businesses are a major asset to Rochdale and I have been privileged to help in some small way to promote them in the wider market."
Mohamed Parwez of the Asian Leader, winner of the Business of the Year Award, said: "It was surprise and pleasure winning the award. For all the hard work we put in to establish Asian Leader this was the icing on the cake. I would like to thank all the businesses who have supported our newspaper and our readers. Amjad Ali my business partner echo’s these sentiments."
Adil Ansari, owner of Keystone Estates, winners of the Business Start Up category said: "We are shocked and delighted to have won such a recognised and prestigious award and are pleased to know that Keystone really are making a difference in the estate agency profession. We plan to keep growing and hopefully, with continuing support, become Rochdale's leading Estate Agent and Letting Specialist."
