Rochdale Business Curry Club celebrated its first anniversary at Veenas, Heywood last night (Wednesday 10 February). Special guests on the night included the Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale Councillor Keith Swift and Ms Sue Etchells and a delegation representing The Rochdale Bangladeshi Partnership Project (a local charity).
Commenting, Mayor swift said: "It’s great to see so many people here to celebrate the 1st Anniversary of the Rochdale Curry Club. It’s also really important that local businesses support each other and do business with each other."
Rochdale Business Curry Club was inspired by the sponsors' own experience of other networking events and the desire to bring together local like-minded business people in a more relaxed informal atmosphere than many other networking organisations.
Co-Founder Colin Lambert said: "In collaboration the main sponsors of this event are CTL Wealth Management Ltd, Tax Assist Accountants (Heywood) and Rochdale Online. All locally based and highly respected businesses with a wealth of experience in their own fields and business networking.
"Since the initial launch in February 2009 we have met with over 600 individuals representing almost as many different businesses from the North Manchester area."
Brendan Burke, Co-Founder, said: "We are delighted to be celebrating our first anniversary, as there's been a lot of hard work behind the scenes to make sure this event is successful.
"Whilst we have inevitably evolved during the course of our first year, we are satisfied that we have stayed true to our collective ethos of networking in an informal atmosphere, whilst attracting local, like-minded business people, who are now regularly doing business with each other.
"The fact that both local businesses and the local economy are benefitting as a direct result of our event, in what are very challenging economic times, is something we are very proud of."
