Well known local businessman John Kay, former Senior Partner of Molesworths Bright Clegg Solicitors and now working  as a commercial consultant in that firm, has increased his shareholding in Rochdale Online Ltd.

Mr Kay purchased a stake in Rochdale Online Ltd in April 2005 and joined the board as a non-executive director, and has now doubled his shareholding.

Commenting on his decision to increase his investment Mr Kay said: "I am a commercial lawyer and value the speed of email and internet communication to help me achieve deadlines. I get involved with the businesses I represent.

"For young people this media is second nature, for older people it offers a chance to compete with the young on equal terms.

"Rochdale Online Ltd is a very successful and fast growing local company and the Rochdale Online web site attracted 18 million page views last year alone - I just had to have part of that action."

Rochdale Online Managing Director Pauline Journeaux said: "We are delighted at the confidence John has shown in the future prospects of the company by increasing his stake. His commercial expertise and business acumen has already proved invaluable to the company and we look forward over the next few years to John taking an increasing role in the day-to-day running of the business."
