Working together can help those who are less fortunate than ourselves

Date published: 16 February 2007

The strength of working together can help not only our own businesses but also those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Three years ago the NSPCC started the Manchester Business Group.  There are now 10 companys involved.  They meet only a few times each year but raise substantial finds each year for NSPCC Registered Charity.  Last year they enabled NSPCC to be involved in the EN Awards, Pro Manchester Dinners, Young Professional Awards, the list goes on and on.  Over the last three years they have raised nearly £100,000.00 they have enabled over 20 children to receive treatment from NSPCC’s therapeutic services, that’s 20 lives that have improved through their support. The money raised has done so much more.

Children in Greater Manchester need your help.

In 2005 there were 1,395 children in Greater Manchester on the child protection register
Government statistics show that as of 31 March 2005 there were 4,640 children being looked after by local authorities in Greater Manchester.

The NSPCC Child Protection Helplines and ChildLine receive thousands of calls every year

Molesworth Bright Clegg Consultant and Rochdale Online Director John Kay says: "I am currently the President of Rochdale Local Chamber Council. I am also the Honorary Treasurer of Rochdale Branch of the NSPCC. Last Christmas members of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce in Rochdale raised over £800 for the NSPCC from the sale of Christmas Draw Tickets for a Geoff Butterworth painting.

"I have been asked by Martin Ashton (NSPCC Corporate Manager) if I can encourage Businesses in Rochdale and Oldham to set up a similar group NSPCC Business Group.

"If you are interested in getting involved or just want to know more, then please contact Martin Ashton on 01204 417988 or at mashton@nspcc.org.uk or myself at Molesworths Bright Clegg Solicitors, Rochdale on 01706 356666 or at jkay@molesworths.co.uk.

"This is an ideal opportunity to help children in the North West.  It is also an ideal opportunity to get publicity and recognition for your business while raising funds for a much respected National Charity.   It is a Win.Win Marketing initiative.

"Our launch event is a Silent Auction of Art and Memorabilia at Rochdale Town Hall of the evening of Wednesday 21 March 2007. Please support us on that evening."
